The dream team! No, none of these dogs are Momo, but we have always wanted to get another corgi to keep Momo company. The black and white one would be ideal! The tanned one would also be cool Such a pretty sight - these corgis. Best dog in the world.

Quiet without Momo

Things have been pretty quiet and squeaky clean around here without dear old Momo. She is currently at my parent's place during the confinement period cos' the confinement lady don't really like her around, and my parents have been nagging us not to have the dog in the house when baby is still young - dirty or so they claim. Although I believe the maid is secretly happy about it - well at least she don't need to clean the house of fur several times a day or worry about her garbage being slewed all over the floor if she left it in the bin for the dog to rummage. But, we really miss Momo rushing to greet us every morning when we wake up, or when we return home. We still open and close our gate carefully for fear that something will squeeze through and make a run out the door - and laugh when we remember we need not do this routine act for the moment. While enjoying the confinement food, I miss the old girl sitting eagerly by my side, waiting for her lottery - some food to drop accidentally on purpose so that she can savor the cuisine too. Or her barks to warn us of baby's cries. Miss ya old girl.

En and Momo

TO @#$% to all those who proclaim that dogs should be kept far away from children. Contrary, I think kids fare better if they are exposed to pets and animals at a young age. Mine did, and he continued to be entertained by momo the corgi - the best dog ever for kids. She's gentle, wary and careful around babies. While baby en continues to harass her, she never fights back and occasionally will give an endearing lick on en's face just to amuse him. Poor momo has been neglected since the two boys came along, but she never fails to put on her most enthusiastic demenour when we 'happen' to pay her some attention. She continues to greet us at the gate (even during days when we totally ignored her as we were either zonked or eager to play with baby), continues to trail us around the house as we do our chores, sit by our side while we have dinner, peers in at the den when we are playing with en inside (she cannot enter the den), sleeps outside our room so that she will be there when we step out. What more can you ask for a dog. I love momo, and I feel sorry that she has to spend two of her best years waiting for the boys to grow up while cooped in a small apartment. I'm happy we are moving to college green, where I hope she will have more space to prance around, and definitely can look forward to more walks and plays.

Here's a video of en playing with momo (also in www.sirennights.blogspot.com)

Momo and Me

I always believe there is a special bond between dog lovers; we instinctively understand one another, we know the depths of affection we have for our devoted pets... and we know the joys, and the richness that our doggies bring us..Yet the intensity of feeling did not come through to me till i read a tale of aother dog-owner - the events of their life with the dog, the feelings for their dogs, it then struck me with great clarity that dog owers are more closely bonded by our love for our dogs than we can ever imagined!!!

As Hubby and me were doing some late night browsing at the Book store Borders, we came across this cute look Labrador staring at us from the front of a hard cover book - "Marley & me"

Intrigued, I picked up the book and saw that it is a story about a dog owner and his dog...

The resonance I have with the book is uncanny.. Like the book, we bought Momo not long after our honeymoon.. she symbolises the start of my married life togther with my husband.. We always feel that Momo will prepare us well for parenthood for she can be such a little baby sometimes! She taught us patience, and not to be too uptight about dis-figured furniture, torn book etc, as these are similiar havocs that our kids will one day create..

And very uncannily, Momo has been by my side gently when we had our first miscarriage, as Marley did for his owner.. in those dark days, Momo has learnt to be sensitive and was in tune with our feelings..

At this point, I do not know how our lives with Momo will turn out, and I hate the thought of the inevitable immortality.. through the book, I know how the Grogan family and Marley had turn out..tey had coped and they had survived the pain%

Queen of the House - No More

if Momo has a voice, she probably will lament on the the sad state of affair these few months.. many parents spoke of sibling rivalry and there are tons of books out there addressing this serious problem.. but there are limited books on pet-baby rivalry..

Not that momo is undergoing any major distress, but her life as Queen of the household formerly did go through some sort of a revolution.. cuz the prince of the household is increasing welding his powers..

momo used to roam her kingdom freely, now her space is limited when the prince rules during the weekends - bedroom is out of bounds, the cosy den is now the prince's throne - and not accessible to0 the de-throned queen.. and when the prince gets into his stately walker and goes on a visit around his kingdom, queen momo has to go in hiding- underneatn the dining table or loiter by the edge - for fear of being trampled by the prince's stately walker..

Yet, despite this sad state of affairs, Momo has endeared herself more to us than ever - her patience and understanding displayed is indeed fitting of her queenly status.. she has been a precious state jewel in our home, she gets our attention and love through her subtle thoughtful ways..and she will always be the queen of our hearts!!

A Walk to the Esplanade

Beside the usual Botanic Gardens where Momo can run wild, she also loves the city walk especially the areas around the Esplanade. The nights are lovely with the sea breeze, and she gets to rest her tired legs by sitting on the ledge with the sea view!! Posted by Picasa

Momo's New Friend

This is the little fella that I have been watching out for! Barely 4 months, he is active and playful, I can't wait to play CHASE with him! I just hope he does not pull my pink ears too much!
These days, I can't bark too much around the house, cuz he may start wailing and both of us will be scolded... Posted by Picasa
